Hallmarket Recap!

Hey everyone!

Well, it's been a few weeks- but Hallmarket happened, and it was a blast! There were so many talented folks selling their cool stuff! The weather was perfect, and the crowd was constant the whole day! I had a lot of fun, and sold quite a few of my little nuggies.

Here I am with my tent-mate pals, Flora and Mimi...

Here's my little table. I sold nuggies, recycled cd sleeves, and handmade notebooks. The nuggies were a hit with kids and adults alike. It was so fun to see people pick them up and find their favorites!

Flora rocked Hallmarket like the pro she is. She sold necklaces, prints, rings, doodle stones, doodle bowls, brooches, pins... you name it! Here's a picture of  her tray of designs you could choose for an interchangeable necklace. And the next picture is a shot of doodle stones...

Mimi made these magic mats, that were super adorbs. My favorite by far is 'chomp time'. She also sold tini mimis, like the one I wrote about in a previous post 'Art in my House by Hallmarket Friends (part 1)'.

Allyson Makes: Nuggies, and Hallmarket!

HEY-dee-HO, Everyone!

I want to let you know about an awesome little art/craft fair coming up this month, called Hallmarket! I'm pretty excited about it, because all kinds of really talented artists from Hallmark will be selling stuff they made, and I can't wait to see (and buy) it all! :)
...And guess what! I'll be selling stuff too!

Here's a little sneak peek of some little monsters I'll be selling. They're called Nuggies, and they all have names and personalities...

So if you live in Kansas City, come on out September 29th and buy some sweet art!! You won't regret it! I'll see you there!!

Allyson Makes: Baby Animal Face Blanket

Hola Friends!

I finally finished this baby blanket after a few hiccups (running out of yarn... not being able to find any more of the yarn in the same color... that kid of stuff). But I knocked out the finishing touches last night, thanks to a few hours on the couch with a Monk marathon.

I crocheted a mini afghan, about 2.5 x 2.5 ft, then made a few triangle pieces for the ears and a bigger one with a right angle for the head. Sewed them all up with some felt added for details, crocheted about 12 stitches in two rows around a circle for the eyes, and voila!

The blanket is for little baby Gordon, who belongs to two pretty awesome friends- Sophie and Michael Pullen. Check out Sophie's blog here. She writes about her family and interior design stuff. Maybe she'll post a picture of little Gordie wrapped up in his new blankie when it arrives! (hint hint).

Anyway, hope he loves it!

Crochet Blanket and Halloween Recap

My buddy Meredith got married last week and for a gift, I decided to crochet the happy couple a purple blanket to snuggle up under. I tried a new stitch, and I love the results. Even my pro-knitting / anti-crochet co-worker loved it, saying, "that looks like a knitting pattern!"

What do you think?

In other news, Halloween has come and gone. And while I was sad about not being in Milwaukee to throw our annual Halloween dance party, I got to enjoy the holiday in my new town, with my new co-workers...

I dressed as the Sun-Maid Raisin lady! All of the fake grapes were found sitting around my grandma's house :) I altered a t-shirt to match the one in the logo, and I made the bonnet in about 20 minutes after watching  this handy youtube tutorial:

My manager, Jim, dressed as Porter Wagoner, and did a mighty fine job on creating his costume. Check out the shotgun going up the leg, and the cactus on the sleeve!

My co-worker, Asuza (the pink monkey), and two of her friends win for my favorite costume of the year though. I kind of want to steal one of those costumes :)

So that was my Halloween! How was yours? What did you dress up as? I'm going to ask questions to promote commenting! Is anybody reading? I promise to write more posts in the future :)
